Development of the hospital

One of the main goals of Riga East Clinical University Hospital is to provide qualitative health care services. In order to achieve this goal, investment projects financed both from funds of state-guaranteed loan and own funds, as well as funds of the European Regional Development Fund are implemented.

As a result of implementation of projects, it is planned to improve and modernize the following units:

  • to develop the out-patient unit of the In-patient Department “Gaiļezers”, by ensuring convenient availability of services to the patients in one building of the in-patient department. It is planned to reconstruct the premises of out-patient services, in which out-patient surgery services and out-patient diagnostic services will be provided as well;
  • to reconstruct the surgery block in the In-patient Department “Gaiļezers”. In the surgery block, it is planned to create universal high-load operating theatres with high patient capacity;
  • to renovate the premises of the In-patient Department “Gaiļezers”. The building of the In-patient Department “Gaiļezers” was constructed in 1979, and as from that moment no significant renovation works have been carried out in it; as a result, most of the premises are worn out and outdated;
  • to create a joint Clinic of Chemotherapy and Haematology in the premises of the In-patient Department “Latvian Oncology Centre”. The clinic is currently operating in two, significantly remote places – in the In-patient Department “Linezers” (Riga, 6 Linezera Street) and In-patient Department “Latvian Oncology Centre” (Riga, 4 Hipokrāta Street). By implementing the project, a joint flow of patients will be ensured and joint day in-patient department will be created ensuring optimum conditions for receiving chemotherapy to patients;
  • to renovate the premises of the In-patient Department “Latvian Oncology Centre”;
  • to renovate the building and surgery unit of the In-patient Department “Biķernieki”;
  • to reconstruct the buildings of the In-patient Department “Latvian Infectology Centre”;
  • to carry out territory improvement works – to construct a parking lot, to carry out improvement works, to install visual information, to construct a passage between the In-patient Department “Gaiļezers” and the In-patient Department “Latvian Oncology Centre” with a transportation junction;
  • to carry out infrastructure adjustment works – reconstruction of water supply piping, sewerage and heat supply system of in-patient departments, reconstruction of the electric power distribution;
  • to purchase necessary equipment to ensure the operation of the reconstructed surgery block.
