Endoscopic examinations

Department of Endoscopy that complies with modern requirements for performance of digestive endoscopy, using modern and new video-endoscopic equipment.

8000 endoscopic examinations, both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies, are annually performed in the department. It is possible to perform the following examinations:

- esophagogastroduodenoscopy

- diagnostics

- urease test for determining Helicobakter pylori

- bougienage of the oesophagus

- evacuation of foreign bodies from the digestive tract

- endoscopic diagnostics of the reason of digestive tract bleeding, and therapy

- diagnostics and endoscopic removal of polyps

- diagnostic colonoscopy and endoscopic removal of polyps

 - ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography)

- diagnostics of pathology of bile and pancreatic ducts

- evacuation of calculi from bile ducts

- stent placement into bile and pancreatic ducts.

Head of the Department Anita Lapiņa, certified gastroenterologist, certified gastroenterologist/endoscopist, performs all types of digestive endoscopies; vast experience in endoscopic examinations of bile ducts and pancreas (ERCP with papillosphincterotomy, evacuation of gallstones and stent placement), emergency and operative endoscopy.
